This April, I finished a decade of corporate life. My first job, my first and only company I’ve worked with. Though I only have experience in this one company, from what I’ve seen outside and from others’ opinions, I couldn’t have asked for a more awesome place to work. Teammates who share the same mindset, the energy, and most importantly the company is a sport retailer, so everything around revolves around sports! Loved every minute I spent there.

Ever since I’ve been in the workforce, I kid you not, I’ve worked my ass off. The societal pressure of ‘making it’ pushed me in my initial years. And the pressure to clear off certain family debts.

The maturity and wisdom grew along these years. At some point I realized depending on one income stream alone for the next couple of decades is probably not the best idea. The pandemic gave me enough time along with my job to think what else can I be good at. I read, I consumed a lot of educational content, spent money on courses, webinars. Most of them having a real positive impact on creating a direction to the future I wanted to shape for myself.

Started experimenting with a lot of subjects and I realized I love doing these. Some of them more than my job. Don’t misinterpret, I loved what I did at my job. I loved going to office every day and be with my teammates. It was fun and rewarding at the same time. And I miss that every day now.

Doing those passion projects weren’t going to earn me money as much as I was making at work at that time though. So, I did what needed to be done. Put in the effort, allocate more time in my life to become good at these. Fight to be in top 10% if not 1% (still long way to go!).

December 2024, I hit a milestone in my life. I was debt free for the previous 3 years, hit enough capital (and skillset) to pursue trading as a full-time business, roof over my head without worrying about rents and landlords, multiple layers of other safety nets in place to have peace of mind.

I was in a good place to take the leap of faith. And I’m glad that I took it! I’m now using my time to experiment and build next set of income streams. Some might work, some might not. More on this later.
